The Kodiak king, first of the Kodiak line, leader of the bowies, and all around beast!
I’ve always loved bigger knives, growing up as a proper Texas and watching the Alamo as all young men should, I always thought Jim Bowie had the coolest knife. Since then it’s just been the standard for a rough man in my head. We even got to go visit the blacksmith shop where his original Bowie was made in Washington, Arkansas. Which, as a side note, if you can do that we highly recommend it. Super cool to see the history and realize the OG version he had is not what you pictured. It had a coffin handle and an upswept blade because he was a fencer and learned to fight with that style. Just all around interesting but I disagreed.
The Kodiak was our way to scratch that itch. It’s got weight and size fit for any task. I’ve personally seen the results of it being abused chopping down a small tree, cutting 2×4s, and even chopping antler and it took the abuse and begged to be fed more. Don’t take out word for it though grab one for yourself.
These two have handles that are not are standard choices. One is Python micarta, which just looks sick. The other is whale bone, whale bone! How unique is that? Looks beautiful and we’re bummed that we are not sure where to get more except at Blade Atlanta.
Steel: 80CRV2
Overall length: 10.75”
Blade length: 6.25”
